Miljan families are Croats and they are mostly from Krapina area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Krapina and Zagreb. In Pristava Krapinska in Krapina every fifth inhabitant had the family name Miljan.
Prevalence
About 280 people with faimily name Miljan live in Croatia today, in 120 households. There were 290 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number remains constant. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 20 cities and 27 other places, mostly in Zagreb (50), Radoboj in Krapina area (50), Pristava Krapinska (30), Krapina (25), and in Ivanic-Grad (15).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
