Milan families are Croats and they are mostly from Metkovic. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Split and Metkovic. In Poljice in Dubrovnik area every fifth inhabitant had the family name Milan.
Prevalence
About 160 people with faimily name Milan live in Croatia today, in 60 households. There were 130 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 20 percent. They are located in 9 Croatian counties, in 13 cities and 14 other places, mostly in Metkovic (35), Kastel Stari (20), Split (20), Sinj (<10), and in Kastel Novi (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over thirty times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
