Kurić families are predominantly Croats and they are mostly from the Island of Ugljan , less frequently Bosniaks (from Cazinska Krajina Region, Bosnia). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zadar and in Cazins Region, Bosnia (Bihac area). In Klokot in Cazins Region (Bosnia) every second inhabitant had the family name Kurić.
Prevalence
About 100 people with faimily name Kurić live in Croatia today, in 50 households. There were 80 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 20 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 15 cities and 11 other places, mostly in Zagreb (25), Kukljica on the Island of Ugljan (25), Zadar (15), Split (<10), and in Prvca (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1691 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
