Ćurić families are Croats and they are mostly from east Herzegovina. According to some sources they are from Boka Kotorska and from Makarske. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in East Herzegovina (Bileca area) and in Western Bosnia (Tomislavgrad area). In places Korita and Prisoje in East Herzegovina every fifth inhabitant had the family name Ćurić.
Prevalence
About 2100 people with faimily name Ćurić live in Croatia today, in 800 households. There were 80 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number multiplied. They are located in all Croatian counties, in 74 cities and 128 other places, mostly in Zagreb (560), Djakovo (220), Slavonski Brod (170), Sesvete (130), and in Split (125).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over thirty times, the first time 1750 in source 18th Century Census.
