Šuput families are mainly Serbs and they are mostly from Korenica area (Plitvice Lakes), whereas often Croats (Osijek). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Otocac area and in Zagreb. In Šeganovac in Otocac area every third inhabitant had the family name Šuput.
Prevalence
About 120 people with faimily name Šuput live in Croatia today, in 60 households. There were 220 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number halved. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 12 cities and 17 other places, mostly in Zagreb (20), in Jezerce (20) and Korenica (15) in Otocac area, Pula (15), and in Seganovac in Otocac area (<10).
Outside Croatia
Family name Šuput (including: Suput , Shuput ) is present in five countries on two continents. The family name "Suput " is used by small number of people in the United States. "Shuput " is used by some 60 people in the United States.
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
