In Croatia, Zoroja families are Croats by relative majority (from Jastrebarsko ), less frequently Serbs, and very rarely Slovenes (from Slovenia ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Gospic and in Slovenia. In Pavlovac Vrebački in Gospic every sixth inhabitant had the family name Zoroja.
Prevalence
About 60 people with faimily name Zoroja live in Croatia today, in 30 households. There were 110 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number halved. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 13 cities and four other places, mostly in Zagreb (20), Kutina (<10), Rijeka (<10), Karlovac (<5), and in Jastrebarsko (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 2007 in source Encyclopaedia of Croatian Surnames.
