Vrbanac families are Croats and they are mostly from Vrbovsko. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Vrbovsko and Glina. In places Veliki Jadrč and Lukovdol in Vrbovsko every fifth inhabitant had the family name Vrbanac.
Prevalence
About 420 people with faimily name Vrbanac live in Croatia today, in 180 households. There were 680 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 40 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 29 cities and 46 other places, mostly in Zagreb (80), Veliki Jadrc (30), Lukovdol (20), Karlovac (20), and in Glina (20).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
