Vlaović families are almost entirely Croats and they are mostly from Nova Gradiska area , rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Nova Gradiska area and in Nova Gradiska. In places Drežnik and Vrbje in Nova Gradiska area every eighth inhabitant had the family name Vlaović.
Prevalence
About 290 people with faimily name Vlaović live in Croatia today, in 100 households. There were 230 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 20 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 14 cities and 28 other places, mostly in Nova Gradiska (55), Zagreb (35), and in Vrbje (35), Resetari (20) and Dreznik (15) in Nova Gradiska area.
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over seventy times, the first time 1683 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
