In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Hrvatska Kostajnica area and in Zagreb. In places Čavlovica and Donji Žirovac in Hrvatska Kostajnica area every third inhabitant had the family name Tintor.
Prevalence
About 360 people with faimily name Tintor live in Croatia today, in 200 households. There were 530 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 30 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 29 cities and 50 other places, mostly in Zagreb (75), Borovo in Vukovar area (20), Rijeka (15), Donji Zirovac in Hrvatska Kostajnica area (15), and in Zadar (15).
Outside Croatia
At least seven families with this surname emigrated from Croatia to: Germany (4), the United States (2), and to France (1). Family name Tintor is present in 14 countries on four continents. The family name "Tintor " is used by some 300 people in Mexico , about 100 in the United States , and some 60 people in Russian Federation.
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
