Smajlović families are mainly Bosniaks and they are mostly from Tuzla Region (Bosnia), whereas often Croats (from Rijeka ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and in Tuzla Region, Bosnia (Srebrenik area). In Biberovo Polje in Bosanian Posavina every second inhabitant had the family name Smajlović.
Prevalence
About 210 people with faimily name Smajlović live in Croatia today, in 80 households. There were 10 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number multiplied. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 33 cities and 32 other places, mostly in Zagreb (80), Gunja in Zupanja area (25), Labin (20), Rijeka (20), and in Split (15).
