In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Bosnian Krajina (Kotor Varos area) and in Herzegovina (Mostar area). In Brezovice in Podrinje (Bosnia) every ninth inhabitant had the family name Smailović.
Prevalence
About 30 people with faimily name Smailović live in Croatia today, in 15 households. There were 0 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number multiplied. They are located in 10 Croatian counties, in 10 cities and two other places, mostly in Gunja in Zupanja area (10), Zagreb (<10), Rijeka (<5), Zadar (<5), and in Slavonski Brod (<5).
