Sekić families are Croats and they are mostly from middle Bosnia. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Middle Bosnia (Novi Travnik area) and in Middle Bosnia (Travnik area). In Gornje Pećine in Middle Bosnia every fifth inhabitant had the family name Sekić.
Prevalence
About 120 people with faimily name Sekić live in Croatia today, in 50 households. There were 40 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number tripled. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 20 cities and 18 other places, mostly in Zagreb (25), Dubocac in Pleternica area (15), Drnis (10), Split (<10), and in Pula (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
