Šečić families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Bosnian Posavina , also Bosniaks and Roms. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Slavonski Brod. In Nemila in Middle Bosnia every tenth inhabitant had the family name Šečić.
Prevalence
About 170 people with faimily name Šečić live in Croatia today, in 60 households. There were 10 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number multiplied. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 18 cities and 13 other places, mostly in Zagreb (120), Sesvete (15), Slavonski Brod (15), Trnovec in Cakovec area (<10), and in Rijeka (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
