In Croatia, Ranj families are Croats (from the Island of Ugljan ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zadar and on the Island of Ugljan.
Prevalence
About 40 people with faimily name Ranj live in Croatia today, in 20 households. There were 50 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 20 percent. They are located in four Croatian counties, four cities and two other places, mostly in Kukljica on the Island of Ugljan (20), Zadar (15), Supetar on the Island of Brac (<5), Zagreb (<5), and in Rijeka (<5).
