Polović families are Croats and they are mostly from Duga Resa. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Karlovac and Duga Resa. In places Mrežnički Brig and Gršćaki in Duga Resa every fifth inhabitant had the family name Polović.
Prevalence
About 460 people with faimily name Polović live in Croatia today, in 190 households. There were 430 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 10 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 18 cities and 37 other places, mostly in Duga Resa (115), Karlovac (100), Mreznicki Brig (40), Zagreb (25), and in Grscaki (20).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
