Petric families are Croats and they are mostly from Zlatar area. According to some sources they are from Dalmatia, odnosno Herzegovina. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and in Zlatar area.
Prevalence
About 710 people with faimily name Petric live in Croatia today, in 270 households. There were 110 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number multiplied. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 43 cities and 82 other places, mostly in Zagreb (150), Podgorje Bistricko in Zlatar area (50), Split (45), Gorican in Cakovec area (25), and in Sesvete (25).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over a hundred times, the first time 1729 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
