In Croatia, Pecić families are predominantly Croats (from Samobor ), rarely Serbs, and barely Bosniaks (from Herzegovine ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Djakovo and Garesnica.
Prevalence
About 60 people with faimily name Pecić live in Croatia today, in 20 households. There were 30 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number doubled. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 12 cities and 7 other places, mostly in Borovo in Vukovar area (15), Zagreb (<10), Samobor (<10), Omis (<10), and in Gradac in Ploce area (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
