Pavlak families are Croats and they are mostly from Jastrebarsko area , where they immigrated according to some sources from Lika. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and in Jastrebarsko area. In Poljanica Okićka in Jastrebarsko area every fourth inhabitant had the family name Pavlak.
Prevalence
About 260 people with faimily name Pavlak live in Croatia today, in 90 households. There were 210 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 20 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 23 cities and 40 other places, mostly in Zagreb (30), Gornje Oresje (20), Repisce in Jastrebarsko area (15), Rijeka (10), and in Makarska (10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
