In Croatia, Mendica families are generally Croats (from Porec area ), very rarely Italians (from Novigrad area ), and barely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Pula and Porec. In Deklevi in Porec area every second inhabitant had the family name Mendica.
Prevalence
About 70 people with faimily name Mendica live in Croatia today, in 30 households. There were 30 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number more than doubled. They are located and 7 other Croatian places, mostly in Pula (25), Visnjan in Porec area (10), Porec (10), Klostar in Porec area (<10), and in Rovinj (<5).
