In Croatia, Mendizza families are predominantly Italians (from Novigrad area ), rarely Croats (from Porec area ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Pula and in Porec area. In Deklevi in Porec area every fourth inhabitant had the family name Mendizza.
Prevalence
About 10 people with faimily name Mendizza live in Croatia today, in two households only. There were 30 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased significantly. They are only located in in one Croatian city and another small place , mostly in Porec (<5) and Kastelir in Novigrad area (<5).
Outside Croatia
Family name Mendizza is present in 8 countries on four continents. The family name "Mendizza " is used by some 90 people in Paraguay , small number in the United States , and small number of people in Australia.
