In Croatia, Marc families are generally Croats (from Duga Resa area ), very rarely Albanians (from Varazdin ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Karlovac and in Duga Resa area.
Prevalence
About 20 people with faimily name Marc live in Croatia today, in 10 households. There were 40 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number halved. They are located in four Croatian counties, four cities and threee other places, mostly in Banjsko Selo in Duga Resa area (10), Duga Resa (<10), Mreznicki Varos (<5), Varazdin (<5), and in Velika Gorica (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
