Lucić families are Croats and they are mostly from Bosnian Posavina. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Bosanian Posavina (Bosanski Samac area) and in Drnis. In Pokrovnik in Drnis every third inhabitant had the family name Lucić.
Prevalence
About 1600 people with faimily name Lucić live in Croatia today, in 600 households. There were 670 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number more than doubled. They are located in all Croatian counties, in 60 cities and 123 other places, mostly in Zagreb (200), Slavonski Brod (130), Ruscica in Slavonski Brod area (80), Sibenik (75), and in Osijek (60).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned about one hundred times, the first time 1729 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
