Lovrečić families are Croats and they are mostly from the Island of Cres. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Pula. In Grmov on the Island of Cres nearly every inhabitant had the family name Lovrečić.
Prevalence
About 220 people with faimily name Lovrečić live in Croatia today, in 90 households. There were 240 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 10 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 18 cities and 31 other places, mostly in Zagreb (25), Jakovici in Pazin area (25), Pula (15), Cres on the Island of Cres (15), and in Cerna in Zupanja area (10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1669 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
