In Croatia, Lejo families are Croats (from Omis area ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Split and in Sinj area.
Prevalence
About 50 people with faimily name Lejo live in Croatia today, in 20 households. There were 30 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 100 percent. They are located in two Croatian counties, in 6 cities and another small place , mostly in Split (45), Dugi Rat in Omis area (10), Omis (<5), Zagreb (<5), and in Solin (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1930 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
