Leto families are Croats and they are mostly from east Herzegovina. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Western Bosnia (Tomislavgrad area) and in Herzegovina (Mostar area). In Zavala in East Herzegovina every seventh inhabitant had the family name Leto.
Prevalence
About 70 people with faimily name Leto live in Croatia today, in 30 households. There were 10 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number multiplied. They are located in 7 Croatian counties, in 11 cities and 7 other places, mostly in Zagreb (30), Dubrovnik (15), Cibaca in Dubrovnik area (<10), Osijek (<10), and in Sukosan in Zadar area (<10).
