Kokotović families are predominantly Croats and they are mostly from Cazinska Krajina Region (Bosnia), less frequently Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Cazins Region, Bosnia (Bihac area) and in Zagreb. In Baljevac in Cazins Region (Bosnia) every eighth inhabitant had the family name Kokotović.
Prevalence
About 200 people with faimily name Kokotović live in Croatia today, in 90 households. There were 320 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 40 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 19 cities and 19 other places, mostly in Zagreb (85), Sibinj in Slavonski Brod area (10), Gornji Stupnik in Samobor area (<10), Perusic in Gospic area (<10), and in Rijeka (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over thirty times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
