Gornji Stupnik is the seat of the municipality Stupnik in Zagreb County, at an elevation of 120 meters above sea level and it covers the area of 4.60 km² (1.78 sq. miles). According to the 2011 census report, there were 2.004 inhabitants. It is predominantly populated by Croats (97%), but also.
