Keler families are often Croats and they are mostly from Slatina , less frequently Germans. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Osijek and Slatina. In Pjenovac in Podrinje (Bosnia) nearly every inhabitant had the family name Keler.
Prevalence
About 100 people with faimily name Keler live in Croatia today, in 40 households. There were 250 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased significantly. They are located in 10 Croatian counties, in 18 cities and 21 other places, mostly in Osijek (15), Slatina (15), Zagreb (<10), Crnkovci in Belisce area (<10), and in Racinovci in Zupanja area (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over forty times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
