Kaloper families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Sinj area , often Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Sibenik and in Sinj area. In Gornji Vrhovci in Pozega area every sixth inhabitant had the family name Kaloper.
Prevalence
About 80 people with faimily name Kaloper live in Croatia today, in 30 households. There were 150 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number halved. They are located in 9 Croatian counties, in 14 cities and 6 other places, mostly in Zlarin (10), Zagreb (<10), Trilj in Sinj area (<10), Sibenik (<10), and in Pozega (<10).
Outside Croatia
Family name Kaloper is present in 9 countries on three continents. The family name "Kaloper " is used by some 90 people in the United States and small number in Austria.
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1932 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
