Grubić families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Novigrada , also Serbs, rarely Italians (Rovinj area). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Split and Zagreb. In Spahići in Vrbovsko area every third inhabitant had the family name Grubić.
Prevalence
About 1100 people with faimily name Grubić live in Croatia today, in 470 households. There were 1300 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 10 percent. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 56 cities and 109 other places, mostly in Zagreb (105), Split (80), Solin (70), Zadar (60), and in Mirkovci (55).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
