Gospić families are Croats and they are mostly from Biograd na Moru area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zadar and Novigrad. In Prkos in Biograd na moru area every second inhabitant had the family name Gospić.
Prevalence
About 370 people with faimily name Gospić live in Croatia today, in 140 households. There were 110 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number more than tripled. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 13 cities and 14 other places, mostly in Zadar (120), Prkos in Biograd na moru area (75), Pridraga in Novigrad Area in Dalmatia (70), Zagreb (35), and in Podgradina in Zadar area (25).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
