Buza families are Croats and they are mostly from the Island of Rab. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born on the Island of Rab and in Cakovec. In Mali Trnovci in Middle Bosnia every ninth inhabitant had the family name Buza.
Prevalence
About 80 people with faimily name Buza live in Croatia today, in 30 households. There were 30 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number more than doubled. They are only located in in 9 Croatian cities and 14 other places, mostly in Kampor (10), Banjol (<10) and Supetarska Draga (<10) on the Island of Rab, Orehovica in Cakovec area (<10), and in Djurdjekovec (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
