Bujan families are Croats and they are mostly from Cakovec area. According to some sources they are from Drvara (Bosnia). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Cakovec. In Slavica in Kraljevica area every second inhabitant had the family name Bujan.
Prevalence
About 480 people with faimily name Bujan live in Croatia today, in 200 households. There were 490 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number remains constant. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 27 cities and 47 other places, mostly in Zagreb (130), Cakovec (55), Draganic in Karlovac area (50), Rijeka (25), and in Nedelisce in Cakovec area (20).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over fifty times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
