Bojić families are frequently Croats and they are mostly from Trogir area. According to some sources they are from Posusja (Rakitno) and from Olovo (Bosnia), less frequently they can be Serbs, and Bosniaks. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Split and in Middle Bosnia (Kakanj area). In Ćatići in Bosanian Posavina every fifth inhabitant had the family name Bojić.
Prevalence
About 680 people with faimily name Bojić live in Croatia today, in 310 households. There were 370 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 80 percent. They are located in all Croatian counties, in 49 cities and 84 other places, mostly in Zagreb (155), Split (105), Trogir (35), Rijeka (30), and in Prapatnica in Trogir area (20).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over thirty times, the first time 1710 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
