In Croatia, Banak families are almost entirely Croats (from Virovitica area ), very rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Virovitica area and in Djurdjevac area. In Vukosavljevica in Virovitica area every sixtieth inhabitant had the family name Banak.
Prevalence
About 30 people with faimily name Banak live in Croatia today, in 13 households. There were 60 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number halved. They are located in four Croatian counties, four cities and threee other places, mostly in Spisic Bukovica in Virovitica area (10), Zagreb (<10), Labin (<5), Vukosavljevica in Virovitica area (<5), and in Cakovec (<5).
