In Croatia, Bajak families are predominantly Croats (from Djakovo area ), rarely Hungarians (also from Djakovo area ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Djakovo area and in Osijek.
Prevalence
Only a few people with faimily name Bajak live in Croatia today, in three households only. There were 10 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number remains constant. They are located in two Croatian counties, in one city and another small place , mostly in Vladislavci in Djakovo area (<5) and Zadar (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1926 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
