Prevalence
About 50 people with faimily name Žuanić live in Croatia today, in 30 households. There were 10 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number multiplied. They are located in threee Croatian counties and two other places, mostly in Komiza on the Island of Vis (15), Split (15), Zadar (15), Hvar on the Island of Hvar (<10), and in Zagreb (<5).
Outside Croatia
At least three families with this surname emigrated from Croatia to the United States. Family name Žuanić (including: Zuanic , Zuanich ) is present in 10 countries on four continents. The family name "Zuanic " is used by some 200 people in Chile , small number in Australia , and small number of people in the United States. "Zuanich " is used by some 300 people in the United States , about 100 in Argentina , and small number of people in Spain.
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1930 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
