Živković families are predominantly Croats and they are mostly from Bosnian Posavina. According to some sources they are from Kostrec, Sibenik area (Zaton) or Drnis (village Zivkovici), rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Sibenik. In places Kostrc and Donja Mahala in Bosanian Posavina every fifth inhabitant had the family name Živković.
Prevalence
About 5500 people with faimily name Živković live in Croatia today, in 2400 households. There were 5100 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 10 percent. They are located in all Croatian counties, in 98 cities and 416 other places, mostly in Zagreb (920), Sibenik (255), Split (225), Zupanja (220), and in Osijek (220).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over a hundred times, the first time 1749 in source 18th Century Census.
