In Croatia, Švedić families are almost entirely Croats (from Slavonski Brod area ), very rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Pozega area and in Slavonski Brod area.
Prevalence
About 30 people with faimily name Švedić live in Croatia today, in 15 households. There were 40 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 10 percent. They are located in only five naselja i to in Garcin in Slavonski Brod area (10), Zagreb (10), Donji Lipovac in Pozega area (<10), Bjelovar (<5), and in Zadar (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
