Šuša families are mainly Serbs and they are mostly from Knin area , also Croats (iz Biograd na Moru area), very rarely Bosniaks. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Knin area and in Benkovac. In places Kolašac and Nunić in Knin area every fourth inhabitant had the family name Šuša.
Prevalence
About 350 people with faimily name Šuša live in Croatia today, in 180 households. There were 630 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 40 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 24 cities and 30 other places, mostly in Zagreb (50), Zadar (30), Rijeka (30), Nunic in Knin area (25), and in Sibenik (20).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
