Šugić families are Croats and they are mostly from middle Bosnia. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Middle Bosnia (Skender Vakuf area) and in Nova Gradiska area. In Kričići - Jejići in Middle Bosnia every fifth inhabitant had the family name Šugić.
Prevalence
About 140 people with faimily name Šugić live in Croatia today, in 40 households. They are located in 8 Croatian counties, in 6 cities and 20 other places, mostly in Gornji Bogicevci in Nova Gradiska area (35), Pakrac (25), Badljevina (20), Dezanovac in Daruvar area (10), and in Cage in Nova Gradiska area (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1929 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
