Surname Štula in modern Croatia

Štula families can be both Croats (the family name originates from Ploce area ) and Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Glina and in Ploce area. In Podaca in Ploce area every third inhabitant had the family name Štula.

Prevalence

About 120 people with faimily name Štula live in Croatia today, in 60 households. There were 160 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 30 percent.
They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 17 cities and 15 other places, mostly in Podaca in Ploce area (20), Zagreb (10), Trpinja in Vukovar area (10), Glina (<10), and in Hrvatsko Polje (<10).

Family name Štula (including: Stula , Shatula , Sztula , Shitula , Stulla and Shetula ) is present in 15 countries worldwide. The family name "Stula " is used by some 200 people in the United States , about 100 in Poland , and small number of people in Germany. "Shetula " is used by small number of people in the United States.
