Štrbac families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from middle Bosnia , often Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Middle Bosnia (Zenica area) and in Middle Bosnia (Bugojno area). In places Jagodići and Donji Čajdraš in Middle Bosnia every third inhabitant had the family name Štrbac.
Prevalence
About 960 people with faimily name Štrbac live in Croatia today, in 440 households. There were 810 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 20 percent. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 60 cities and 104 other places, mostly in Zagreb (160), Kistanje in Knin area (115), Knin (70), Zadar (50), and in Split (40).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
