Špac families are Croats and they are mostly from Lepoglava. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Lepoglava and Varazdin.
Prevalence
About 90 people with faimily name Špac live in Croatia today, in 30 households. There were 50 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 70 percent. They are located in 9 Croatian counties, in 10 cities and four other places, mostly in Lepoglava (35), Zagreb (10), Pula (<10), Nasice (<10), and in Ocura (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
