In Croatia, Šonje families are Croats (from the Island of Pag ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born on the Island of Pag and in Zagreb.
Prevalence
About 50 people with faimily name Šonje live in Croatia today, in 30 households. There were 70 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 30 percent. They are located in four Croatian cities only: in Novalja on the Island of Pag (25), Zagreb (20), Rijeka (10), and in Dubrovnik (<5).
