Šolić families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Sinj area. According to some sources they are from Pozega area or from Livno (Bosnia/Herzegovina), and very rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Split and in Sinj area. In Sutina in Sinj area every second inhabitant had the family name Šolić.
Prevalence
About 770 people with faimily name Šolić live in Croatia today, in 310 households. There were 620 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 20 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 36 cities and 47 other places, mostly in Split (205), Sutina in Sinj area (75), Zagreb (70), Brstanovo in Solin area (40), and in Skropeti in Pazin area (30).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
