In Croatia, Škopić families are mainly Croats (from the Island of Ugljan ), equally Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Middle Bosnia (Skender Vakuf area) and in Zagreb. In Imljani in Middle Bosnia every seventh inhabitant had the family name Škopić.
Prevalence
About 30 people with faimily name Škopić live in Croatia today, in 11 households. There were 10 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number tripled. They are located and four other Croatian places, mostly in Zagreb (<10), Srijedska in Bjelovar area (<10), Ugljan on the Island of Ugljan (<10), Berek in Cazma area (<10), and in Bjelovar (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
