Škara families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Biograd na Moru area , rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zadar and in Biograd na moru area.
Prevalence
About 770 people with faimily name Škara live in Croatia today, in 290 households. There were 510 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 50 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 18 cities and 33 other places, mostly in Skabrnja in Biograd na moru area (265), Zadar (250), Zagreb (55), Polaca in Benkovac area (30), and in Rijeka (20).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 2007 in source Encyclopaedia of Croatian Surnames.
