In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Bosanian Posavina (Bosanska Gradiska area) and in Split. In Nuglašica in Western Bosnia every third inhabitant had the family name Šiljić.

About 110 people with faimily name Šiljić live in Croatia today, in 40 households. There were 60 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 70 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 17 cities and 5 other places, mostly in Split (45), Vis on the Island of Vis (15), Zagreb (10), Vojnic Sinjski in Sinj area (<10), and in Dubrovnik (<10).
