Šetka families are often Croats and they are mostly from Opuzen area , rarely Bosniaks (Stolac, east Herzegovina). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Omis area and in Opuzen area. In Desne in Opuzen area every eighth inhabitant had the family name Šetka.
Prevalence
About 360 people with faimily name Šetka live in Croatia today, in 150 households. There were 260 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 40 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 22 cities and 26 other places, mostly in Split (60), Zagreb (55), Ploce (45), Metkovic (35), and in Cista Velika in Omis area (35).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1935 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
